Covid-19 Restrictions – 30th December 2020

Dear Customers,

We have recently learned that we will be in Tier 4 as of midnight along with many other businesses facing the same situation, it will unfortunately mean a short period of closure with the resulting financial loss for our community-based enterprise. We will, of course, be taking the necessary steps to minimise harm to our business.

We will remain positive and trust that this will help to reduce the number of Covid-19 cases in our area and improve the situation across the nation.

Please be aware that we will communicate with our members regarding direct debit payments in the coming days. At this time we will not be able to offer online training however we will review this once we know more.

Many thanks

Crewkerne Aqua Centre

Covid-19 New National Restrictions - 5 November to 2 December 2020

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Saturday 31st October 2020 of further national restrictions, the Aqua Centre will be closed from Thursday 5th November to Wednesday 2nd December.

Along with many other businesses facing the same situation, it will unfortunately mean a short period of closure with the resulting financial loss for our community-based enterprise.  We will, of course, be taking the necessary steps to minimise harm to our business.  However, we will remain positive and trust that this short period of national restrictions will help to reduce the already relatively low number of COVID-19 cases in our area and improve the situation across the nation.

Our hope and expectation is that as our area is currently under Tier 1 (Medium level), that when the month’s restrictions end, we will be able to reopen on 3rd December under our current operating regime. The Prime Minister has said that the Government intends to revert to the current tier levels when we come out of these more stringent restrictions.  We hope that we can then enjoy our lead up to Christmas staying fit and healthy as we look forward to hopefully spending time with our families.

Over the past few months it has been wonderful to see local families and individuals, young and old, enjoying the opportunity to swim and exercise. In particular, it has been tremendous to see our swim school classes full again with youngsters enjoying the opportunity to learn to swim.  The studio classes have also sprung back to life with full sessions for most activities, and we have seen a return to the gym with new members joining.

The Aqua Centre Management thank all of you for your support which has been crucial to the Centre’s survival over the past few months.  As you know, we are a Charitable Trust (non-profit company) and the support that we receive from our local community will help us to survive through to Christmas and beyond.  We are very much looking forward to reopening our doors on 3rd December and continuing our efforts to rebuild the sustainability of this important community facility.

For now, look after yourselves, stay fit and well and we look forward to welcoming you back on 3rd December.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update – 17th August 2020

Pool Reopening on 1st September 2020; Full details to follow!

Like many other organisations, Crewkerne Aqua Centre has been hit very hard financially by the lock-down. We operate entirely on generated income and receive no local authority funding. The Government go ahead to reopen on 25th July was welcome , however it will not be without huge challenges for us. Reduced space and therefore customer capacity will be the new normal and there will undoubtedly be a further financial impact. We are going to try our very best to remain positive and hope our many customers continue to support us. It will be a case of ‘use us or lose us’ however. This week a group called UK Active and Community Active UK launched a national #saveleisure campaign asking the Government for £773m to help make up the leisure industry shortfall. Without it, there is a prediction that half the UK leisure centres will be out of business by Christmas. Please add your support to this campaign. Details of our planned reopening are available on our website www.aquacentre.co.uk and on our Facebook page.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update – 10th July 2020

Hello to all our members,

We hope you and your families have remained well during lockdown and you have been able to continue with a fitness programme of some sort. We would like to update you on our plans to phase a reopening of the Aqua Centre.

At the time of writing this, the Government has just announced that indoor leisure facilities may reopen from 25th July. Like so many businesses, the last few months have hit the Aqua Centre very hard financially, with vastly reduced income and the majority of membership subscriptions frozen. Therefore, the news that we can open our doors again is very welcome and we will do so from that Saturday 25th July, with direct debit memberships being restarted from the beginning of August. Initially we will open the gym ONLY, to current members. If all goes well, the studio will follow a week or so later and the pool shortly after that in August. The gym sessions will need to be pre-booked online as session times and numbers will be limited, you may pay as you go for your preferred session, please note that we will operate an ‘opt out’ system which means your direct debit will be reactivated unless you go to this form https://www.aquacentre.co.uk/direct-debit-opt-out on our website and specifically tell us you do not wish to do so. Whether you choose to restart your monthly payment or use pay as you go, we very much hope you will continue to support us.

Please be assured that we take customer health and safety very seriously and there will now be measures set in place that will become the new normal for the Aqua Centre. These will involve a one-way system through the building, clear sign posting for social distancing and a programme of in depth cleaning. The downside to this will be reduced customer space and therefore capacity, but that is something we will have to accept and work with in future.

We are really looking forward to opening again and welcoming you back. Please keep checking our website for further updates regarding the studio and pool.

Kind regards, the Aqua Centre Management
